And A Few Kid Faves

Wow. My number one throw in the purse for whatever situation where we find ourselves. (Well, if you don’t count toilet paper and hand sanitizer). My first question about this simple yet genius product, “Why didn’t I invent these?” Right before we moved to Ethiopia, we received a travel bag full of small goodies, perfect for long trips and waiting time. These cards came in it from Kristi, who happens to also sell these beautiful things.

The concept is simple. 50 double-sided wipe-off cards that encourage learning and imagination. One dry erase marker is included but we have added a marker to our box and it entertains both kids. Some of these are definitely still out of our realm of capabilities but most are very appropriate for preschoolers. Although, we share in a pinch, and have entertained even teenagers while waiting. There are a wide variety activity cards available from Usborne but can I suggest you contact Kristi

Leah had me at folk. The Littles sing the tunes and I love the sound, songs that teach scriptural truths by Brookhills. I definitely prefer the songs sung by the woman (2 we kind of skip, good words, just don’t love the sound as much) Another win-win. Available on iTunes.

This book is beautiful. The artwork follows a family from San Francisco. It’s hard to find a book with black main characters. Of the ones available, mainly specifically focus on the theme of being different and loving the skin your in as an undercurrent. While these books are necessary and should be on all book shelves, how refreshing to find a treasure like Kadir Nelson’s, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands". I think a must for any child’s library.

I would love to hear your kiddos go to’s!

We also have those cards. To make them more travel friendly, I punched holes at the corner of each of them, divided them into two sets because when I got them I had two children who would use them, and used keychain circle things to connect them into two bunches. The child can do one activity, and then simply turn it on the metal ring to another, and they won't fall all over the floor. I'm not sure if you have access to those rings there, but it's a nice way to keep them together.

these are fun ideas!
We like Bendaroos. Sometimes I just take a small bag of those. They stick on car windows well. Also, an egg carton for each child with some stickers & a couple little things in there can entertain for a while. The kids also love Slugs, Bugs & Lullabies!
