365 Days

June 4, 2013…we looked like this. It’s been a year.

We said our last goodbye stateside goodbye as Dad dropped us off at the airport.

These pictures and the ones in the months proceeding our departure, I hardly revisit..I still struggle to look back and relive those painful goodbyes. Recently a friend asked how I was doing with homesickness. We still are homesick but we also have settled. Honestly, I think as long as we are living overseas, a part of me will be sad to be so far from our family and friends. We have joy here, deep and full. We are thankful to be here. But that ache in our hearts that ebbs and flows, it is because we have an amazing community who loves us well.  As we have met people from all over the world, we are so glad for a growing community here and prayerfully look forward to our community in the highlands of Ethiopia.

The relationship is always worth the goodbye. ALWAYS.” -A Life Overseas Blog

(Do you remember this picture? I left for just a second and Jon was letting the girls play in this death trap. ha!)

We’ve had a year of growth, of deep joy and pain. A year not lacking in adventure or God’s provision.

Thanks for following along. Who knows what the next 365 days will bring?

Thanks for sharing this post, Amy. I'm trying to imagine what it would have been like to leave for Ethiopia that day. Thanks for your example of surrendering all for the sake of the gospel! May God keep blessing and providing as you continue your walk of faith. Much love from us all.
